AC check-up in Phoenix, $80 flat.

For a system that is running. A full read on where it stands, written down.

The check-up is a measurement visit. It is for a system that is running and you want to know how it is actually doing, rather than finding out on the first 115 degree afternoon.

Nothing gets cleaned and nothing gets adjusted. That keeps the price down and keeps the visit honest: you get numbers, not a sales pitch. Weak capacitors show up here before they fail, and so does a coil that is starting to choke.

Every reading goes in a written record with photos, and it is yours. Show it to anyone you like.

If you want the cleaning done on the same visit, that is the tune-up. Not sure which? The tune-up guide lays out exactly what each visit covers.

When to call.

  • Running fine, but you want to know before July
  • Bills went up and nothing seems wrong
  • A system you have never had looked at
  • Getting ready for a long trip or a summer away
  • A second opinion on what someone else told you
  • Peace of mind on an older system

What you get.

  • Supply and return temperatures, and the split between them
  • Suction and head pressures
  • Voltage and amp draw on the compressor, condenser fan and blower
  • Capacitor microfarads measured against the rating
  • Contactor condition, filter and airflow, drain line flow
  • Coil condition with photos, and a written record you keep

Common questions.

What is the difference between a check-up and a tune-up?

A check-up measures. Nothing gets cleaned or adjusted. A tune-up is everything in the check-up plus the work: coil rinse, drain flush, float switch test, connections tightened.

I have two systems. Is it $80 each?

The second system on the same visit is $60, because the drive is already paid for.

What happens if the check-up finds something?

You hear what it is and the flat price to fix it, and you decide. Nothing gets done without your OK.
